Creating a Walk Experience

It is vitally important that all of the elements of a Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® Event come together to create compelling and lasting impact. It is more than an outrageous or fun show. It is a strategic use of political theater and multi-modal learning. Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® is education, protest, and performance art with significant political, personal, and existential lessons.

As a Walk Organizer, you act as Producer and Director of a carefully crafted theatrical experience where there is no distinction between audience and performer. The Walk Organizer must ensure that multiple layers of education and experience are available. We want your participants and community to be engaged, learn, and be highly motivated to improve gender relations and combat men's sexualized violence actively.

More Than the Heels

The one mile walk in women's high-heeled shoes is only one part of the overall experience. It's a container experience wherein the pre- and post-walk educational information has a live place to land and thrive. A physical experience related to the information presented helps it integrate in ways passive listening cannot.

Our website has suggestions and descriptions of various educational components you might include in your Event. As the Organizer, Producer, and Director, you have a lot of freedom to craft an event suitable to your skills, resources, and community.

Please organize, produce, and direct a Walk Event as if people's lives depended on it.
